Building in the open

founderprocess

I used to wait until things were perfect before showing them to anyone. Then I realised perfect is just a polite word for never. So now I build in the open.

Ship the embarrassing version

The first version of everything I make is a little embarrassing. That's the point. A rough thing in someone's hands beats a beautiful thing in my head. Feedback only starts once it's real.

Small loops beat big plans

  • Decide the smallest useful slice.
  • Ship it this week, not this quarter.
  • Watch what people actually do.
  • Repeat.

The compounding is real. A year of small loops looks like magic from the outside and like a hundred tiny Tuesdays from the inside.

Make the thing. Show the thing. Learn. Repeat.

That's the whole strategy. Everything else is decoration.
